Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question that isn't answered here? Contact us
I left something behind at the club, when can I get it?
Let a volunteer at the club know as soon as you realise. We will often stay behind to pack up until approximately 9:45pm so you will have time to pick it up on the night. If we have already left, your item is likely to have been picked up and will be stored in the Great Wood Hall office under lock-and-key.
I have an issue, what do I do?
Talk to a Youth Worker or an Adult Leader on the night before leaving the club if possible.
Email us at gwhyouth@gmail.com
Do I have to pay the membership fee each year?
Yes, this supports the ongoing costs at the club including tuck and equipment.
What does membership mean?
To become a member of the club, the fee is £5. Membership means that they are no longer a "guest" so the entry fee becomes £2 each session instead of £2.50. It also gives discounts on group trips.
It also allows us to easily identify the young people who come for one night visits with a friend who is a member, and gives us a greater understanding of our overall membership which we have to report on the SCVYS group census.
I am interested in volunteering
FANTASTIC! Please talk to one of our volunteers or email us to find out more information.
We really do need your help!
The club will simply not function without volunteers and will have to close.
Who is this club for? Age range?
Tean Youth Club welcomes young people in years 6 to 11. (Usually aged 11 to 16).
With the club being open to a wide range of ages, up to 16, we want to ensure that the club is safe for those at it. This is particularly the case with activities (such as football) having a large mix of ages participating.
The large age range can be a struggle for younger members and off-putting for older members, so we have set the limit to being year 6 to ensure that members are safe and benefit from transitional support between primary to secondary school.
For this reason the club does not have any current members in under year 6. The only exception we have offered in the past were for where the parent is also a volunteer.
Young people aged 16+ are welcome to become young leaders.
